I teach Medieval European history, the history of sexuality, and historical methods. I received a Ph.D. in History from Yale University in 1995 (and also have an M.A. in Medieval Studies from Yale, 1991, and an M.A. in History from the University of Alberta, 1987). My research is on the intersections of gender, sexuality, medieval history, and Christianity. Here are some of my major publications (click on each of the images for more details):
My appointment as Editor of the Journal of the History of Sexuality began in January 2005. The journal publishes articles by scholars on all aspects of the history of sexuality, including marriage, contraception, homosexuality, prostitution, etc. It is published by the University of Texas Press, but the editorial office is now at San Diego State University. Click on the cover of the journal to find out more about it, including a list of all essays published in the journal since its inception in 1990.
