College of Education
The College of Education Mentoring Program serves first year freshmen and transfer students who plan to become elementary or high school teachers. This program assists participants with academic, career and social development through a variety of services and activities. Orientation, advising, workshops, and social events are offered, along with the opportunity to meet teacher education student and faculty. FSMP students are contacted periodically by Student Mentors who provide information, assistance, referral to other campus services, and encouragement. A Faculty Mentor oversees the program and supervises the Student Mentors.
The College of Education mentoring program has an elaborate mentor-protégé resource and computer room, located in the North Education Building that offers a variety of materials and equipment conducive to academic success. Protégés and Mentors can meet socially, develop computer skills, and participate in small study sessions.
