SDSU Information Technology Committees
2004/2005
San Diego State University has a decentralized computing environment. Instead of a single department or group of individuals to oversee and provide direction for technology and computing, SDSU utilizes the expertise of numerous individuals representing the various Colleges, Departments, and Divisions on Campus. Key persons, who serve on the various committees, provide overlap and assure communication on topics of mutual interest. The committees, because of their understanding of the overall information technology needs of the campus, research, plan and make recommendations in a proactive manner rather than reacting once a crisis has occurred. The committee recommendations, and in cases where they have been granted the authority, their decisions are forwarded to the appropriate administrators. The goal is that the information technology provided at SDSU will be up-to-date, cost effective, and seamless to the users. The following committees are supported at SDSU:
In matters of technology, the Division of Business and Financial Affairs is responsible for the following:
- Administrative Computing, with the exception of the Student Information Management System which is administered by Academic Affairs, and Alumni and Donor databases which are administered by University Advancement.
- SDSU Communications and Computing Services (CCS, formerly TNS) (This includes, but is not limited to, phone service, Email for many faculty and staff (Academic Affairs is responsible for Student Email), remote access, Internet and Intranet infrastructure, and administration of SDSU site license software).
