Prior to his joining the Chargers in 2005, Mr. Steeg spent 29 years with the National Football League, where his accomplishments in shaping the modern NFL are unparalleled. During his time with the NFL, Mr. Steeg oversaw nearly every aspect of the annual Super Bowl as the head of the League’s special events. Under his leadership, the Super Bowl grew from a simple league championship into a worldwide event that is the most widely anticipated sporting event of the year. In addition to his efforts in turning the Super Bowl into the experience it is today, Mr. Steeg also developed and oversaw many of the NFL's most popular and innovative ventures, including the Pro Bowl, NFL Draft, "The Quarterback Challenge," Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend, and many more.

Students in SDSU’s Sports Business Management MBA program were fortunate to have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Steeg, who shared stories about the challenges of planning the modern Super Bowl, and in response to student questions, discussed his current role with the Chargers. He stressed that a major priority for the team is improving the fan experience and concentrating on customer service, outlined in great detail the team's plans for a new facility, and gave students advice on how to use their MBA and embark upon careers in the sports world.
