National Sports Forum 2007
In January, 2007, four students from the Sports MBA Class of 2007 participated in the National Sports Forum College Case Cup Competition. Gary Walenga, Dexter Bustarde, Kevin Doidge, and Mike Kitts represented the SDSU Sports MBA program in the competition, which pitted the students against their sports-related MBA peers from Arizona State University, the University of Central Florida, Ohio University, the University of Oregon, and Texas A & M University.

The students had 24 hours to develop a case related to the LA Live redevelopment project that is currently under construction next to the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Students visited the site, interacted with AEG executives, and spent hours putting the skills developed in their Sports MBA curriculum to the test to develop solutions to a number of issues facing the project.
