Will Snyder
For the second year in a row accounting professor, Will Snyder, has been voted by SDSU students as the “Best of State,” according to the Daily Aztec. Snyder’s style of teaching is what landed him the award. Students said Snyder's energy and passion helps liven up the sometimes monotonous subject of accounting and his colleagues have even encouraged him to try motivational speaking.
Snyder is able to bring his own personal experience to the classroom because before coming to SDSU, he was a tax partner at Deloitte. Snyder acknowledged accounting as being hard work and he does expect a minimum of 30 hours of homework a week from his students. Even with these tedious conditions Snyder makes sure students don’t go through a class without really understanding the material.
“Anything that’s worth having is difficult to obtain,” said Snyder in the Daily Aztec. “It’s important to remind students that it’s going to be difficult but rewards await.”
Snyder also encourages students to always be optimistic, especially when they are having a difficult time with the learning process. “Whenever I was having trouble or a bad day, my mother used to say ‘Don’t look back, look forward.’ I use that with my students all the time. If they have a bad day or do poorly on an exam, I tell them, ‘Remember what Mom says’.” *
