SDSU MBA Projects Win National Awards
SDSU student projects have won three major awards at the recent Small Business Institute (SBI) Annual Field Case of the Year (COY) Competition on Feb 16, 2008. The SBI program is the premier professional association of small business/entrepreneurship educators and researchers involved in student analysis projects. SBI’s COY is designed to recognize outstanding student work on field cases.
Taking first place in the Graduate Business Plan/Feasibility category was the SDSU market feasibility study and business plan for Lumedyne Technologies (formerly Omega Sensors). The plan stemmed from a Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) market study for accelerometer sensing technology licensed from the Space and Naval Warfare System Command (SPAWAR).
The SDSU MBA consulting (Business Administration 795) project for General Atomics placed second in the Graduate Comprehensive category. The study investigated the use of magnetically levitating technology for movement of freight in the Los Angeles-Long Beach Port.
The SDSU MBA consulting project for AmeriBrands took second in the Graduate Specialized category. The project investigated gaining entry to the Costco wholesale clubs for a new line of bakery products.
