Student Project Offers Real-World Experience

A team of SDSU marketing students (Ryan Deakyne, Devin Kunysz, John Randant, Brittney Greene, and Taiss Nowrouzi) undertaken an extensive marketing research project with the golf brand Divix, who makes golf tools and hat clips. This opportunity gives the students a chance to get involved with an exciting company with real potential. The project also gives them direct feedback from the owners of the company, Todd Jones and Dave Carapel.
The opportunity to embark on the project came as a chance meeting between team leader, Deakyne and Divix owner Jones when they met at a local golf course.
The marketing team has used exploratory research, which consists of several expert surveys, as well as depth interviews from credible sources in the local golf community to reveal demographic information that Divix felt valuable.
The next step taken was to edit and code all of the data using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software to reveal statistical trends involved with consumer feedback.
Divix will use the students’ data to organize future marketing campaigns.
