On Saturday, May 3, 2008, 25 SDSU students, most of whom are affiliated with Montezuma Money Management (MMM), and the College of Business Administration’s Dean Gail Naughton attended the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska where they met and were photographed with Berkshire Hathaway CEO, Warren Buffett.
The MMM investment club was founded in February 2007 by several SDSU finance undergraduates for the purpose of gaining real-world investment expertise. Each month, every member of MMM contributes $100 with the group then votes on how to invest the money.
One of the group’s most important investments was one share of Berkshire Hathaway’s class B stock, allowing them to attend the organization’s annual meeting. Dave Seaton, MMM’s president, was able to contact Buffett’s assistant, Debbie Bosanek, who passed MMM’s request for tickets to Buffett. Buffett not only approved the ticket request (generally, there are far more requests than available tickets), but agreed to meet with group and sign autographs immediately following the conclusion of the main event.
In addition to the delegation from SDSU, three from Tianjn University of Finance and Economics in China were also in attendance.
