Research Web-Guide - (Our Favorite Sites!)
Performing investment research, such
as industry and company analyses, without utilizing the Internet
is like traveling from Europe to North America by boat rather than
by plane. The Internet offers an enormous amount of information
but it can take quite some time to find the right information if
one does not exactly know where to go.
The AEF management team hopes that
our favorite sites will lead you to new and useful sites, making
your research experience more efficient and pleasant.

The
Yahoo Bond Center is the AEFĖs overall
favorite bond-site. It offers the latest composite rates
on U.S. Treasury, municipal and corporate bonds. Besides
the news and analyses sections, the site features numerous
tools, including a bond screener and calculators.
The yahoo
message boards also provide a great communications tool
where ideas and opinions can be shared with the participating
members. The siteĖs educational section pulls informative
articles from other top bond sites and a glossary can
be accessed to help visitors to learn specific terms and
regulations.

Everything
that you always wanted to know about investing but never
dared to ask you will find your answers on the
Motley Fool’s website. The
SEC website is also among our favorites,
it rather focuses on how protect yourself as an investor
rather than giving you the investments 101.

Famous
for its QuickTake reports, a one page summary on a particular
mutual fund, the best site in this category is
Morningstar.com. The site also offers
in-depth research tools, analyst reports and fund ratings.
CNBC on
MSN.com also offers easy accessible
fund research but does not have quite the depth of Morningstar.

Most investment
sites offer a portfolio tracking function, but few are
very user-friendly in regards to creating, maintaining
and customizing the portfolio. Again CNBC on
MSN.com clearly comes in first place;
watch out for Microsoft…Its portfolio tracker has
a very clean user interface and provides great flexibility
in setting personal decisive factors.
